Monday, October 13th, catch the Annual Columbus Day Parade as it winds up Fifth Avenue, NYC, from 44th Street to 79th Street between 12 noon and 3p.m. Keep a look-out for the Michele Ramo Italian Orchestra because Michele Ramo, Eddie Monteiro, Diego Lopez, Heidi Hepler, Sabrina Wender and myself will be bringing some great Italian & Sicilian music to the celebration!

Saturday, October 18th at 3pm, come to the Steinway Branch of the Queens Library. I'll be joined by greats Kato Hideki on guitar and Charles Burham on violin for another presentation of Amuri & Giustizia / Poeti & Eroi a concert of traditional and contemporary Sicilian Roots Music. In November, DisCanto ( www.discanto.net ) visits from Abbruzzo and tours the North East. I have the great joy of singing with them their beautiful Abbruzzese repertoire: songs of love, work, saints and strife. We'll also perform a few Sicilian songs to create a beautiful mix of traditions.

Cost'Ovest raps in Sicilian & English and he just released his debut album...and Yours Truly was a guest who recorded with him on track 15, Ameri-Sicula. I'm in great company since the other guests on the album are: Guaio, Nick V. Lush One, Manifest, J-Bo and Luciano Chessa.
I had a great time working with Cost'Ovest when we recorded in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Auguru tantu successu a iddu!

This summer also took me to Middlebury, Vermont where I spent the month of July as an Artist-in-Residence at the Italian Languge School. It was an honor to meet and work with the students and professors of the Italian School. They are the brightest, the best and the most enthusiastic scholars of the Italian Language.

This summer began with a visit to friends in Sicily. As always, wonderful things happen in Sicily, but this year was even more special. I had the delight of meeting Ninu DiMaiu - probably the world's greatest lover of Sicilian Roots Music. Ninu documents, records, disperses and promotes Sicilian music with all his heart and soul.

On a visit to the home of the great sculptors, Ute Pyka and Umberto Leone, Ninu filmed, photographed and interviewed Umberto and myself as we jammed and sang the music of Pino Veneziano.

Grazie, Ninu, sei un tesoro!

On February 18th, it premiered at Elon University in North Carolina. The photos show some of our rehearsals, the concert I gave with Mebensville, the premier , the radio & t.v. interviews we gave the next day, some moments in the recording studio..and an 'arrivederci dinner' I'll have both the honor and the delight of returning to North Carolina in April to continue working with such wonderful people and to help Dr. Fragola spread the message of his film. Anthony Fragola will be screening Un Bellissimo Ricordo all over the country throughout this year. At many of these screenings he'll have as a special guest Giovanni Impastato. Un Bellissimo Ricordo is a must-see.

This past summer, I sang in my favorite place!...inthe beautiful archeological park at Selinunte!!! It was for the Terzo Evento in Memoria di Pino Veneziano and I had the honor of singing some of Pino Veneziano's music! My friend, Rocco Pollina, taught me Pino's song, "La mafia non esiste" I sang that song again months later for the audience at the premier of Dr. Anthony Fragola's documentary film, "Un Bellissimo Ricordo." The song turned out to be a big hit and the day after the premier, I found myself singing it on the radio & recording it in the studio with Larry Vellani providing guitar accompaniment and joining in singing on the chorus!

On October 19th, Kato, Marco and I took a ride up to Bridgeport, Connecticut to visit Cliff Furnald and the fantastic DJ's of WPKN. Here is the link to an audio stream of our concert: www.rootsworld.com/live/musotrio.html
